Ever talk to a spouse, friend, student, or coworker, and they haven’t heard a word you said. I’ve learned it pays to get people’s attention before I launch into what I want them to hear. God always pays attention to what we say.
There is nothing wrong with asking our heavenly Father to help us. Sometimes it helps our thinking to ask Him to hear us, even though we know that He already does. The Psalmists asked God to hear them because they knew that they were weak and lost without His powerful aid—just as we are.
When we ask the Father to open our eyes spiritually, we can more powerfully resist the adversary’s attacks—even attempts on our lives.
Psalms 13:3:
Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.
Like David, we don’t have “feigned” (hypocritical) lips. We talk to our Father straight from the heart, and He answers us.
Psalms 17:1:
Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
God’s mercy allows Him to answer us and be our helper.
Psalms 27:7:
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
Psalms 30:10:
Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.
We can hope and trust in God—He will hear us.
Psalms 38:15:
For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.
At times we may ask with tears in our eyes because of the pressure we are under. Even though we are only “passing through” on this earth, God will not hold His peace, but will hear us.
Psalms 39:12:
Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
Now is the acceptable time for God to hear us, today is the day of salvation (Isaiah 49:8; II Corinthians 6:2). God’s multitude of mercies brings true salvation.
Psalms 69:13:
But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
Psalms 69:16:
Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
God is the Lord over all, yet He bows down His ear to those afflicted, overwhelmed, and needy.
Psalms 84:8:
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
Psalms 86:1:
Bow down thine ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy.
Psalms 102:1:
A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the Lord. Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.
It is not mindless religious prayers, but opening our whole heart that shows our trust in the Father. We obey His Word, and He makes us more vital each day and hears our specific requests.
Psalms 119:145:
I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O Lord: I will keep thy statutes.
Psalms 119:149:
Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O Lord, quicken [revitalize] me according to thy judgment.
Psalms 140:6:
I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications [requests], O Lord.
Our God is faithful and righteous. He will hear us speedily even when our thoughts “fail.” He never hides His face from us, so that we are rescued from the “pit” our enemy devises for us.
Psalms 143:1:
Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.
Psalms 143:7:
Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.
Let’s go to the Father—for He cares for us!
I Peter 5:7:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

1 John 3:18-24KJV
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
