Whose Side Are You On?

Hugging For PeaceLife is a choice—sometimes with pretty stiff consequences.

Deuteronomy 30:19:
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

How did things get to be so “life and death” around us? Someone made the wrong choice a long time ago.

Revelation 12:7,8:
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

Lucifer, the Devil, the dragon—and the sly serpent Satan—is the one behind all of the evil in the world today. Hatred, division, strife, and violence are his tools to steal, kill, and destroy. The Devil tries to divide based on race, gender, class, religion, nationality, financial status, and any other thing he can. He gets people to look on the “outside stuff.” But where does God look?

I Samuel 16:7:
But the Lord said…the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Funny how it all seems to come down to melanin. One study states: “The most lightly pigmented (European, Chinese and Mexican) skin types have approximately half as much epidermal melanin as the most darkly pigmented (African and Indian) skin types.”

So, WHO CARES? Did any person decide how much skin pigment they would have before they were born? Does that determine their “heart,” which God looks at? No. Actually, the first person was “colored” by the soil he was made from.

Genesis 2:7:
And the Lord God formed man [the Hebrew word adam, meaning reddish] of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

If you are alive and breathing, there’s a lot to be thankful for! Every human being on this planet goes back to Adam. Human blood has no “melanin” to make distinctions about. We ALL have the same kind of blood, no matter the genetic details.

Acts 17:26:
And [God] hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth.

God doesn’t play favorites. The word “whosoever” occurs more than 100 times in the New Testament.

John 3:16:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Love is greater than fear, light dispels darkness, God’s life is greater than the Devil’s death. When a person makes Jesus lord and believes God raised him from the dead—there are absolutely NO IDENTITY POLITICS.

Galatians 3:28:
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:11:
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

So, what do we do to help in these times of division and anarchy? Speak the truth in love.

Ecclesiates 9:17:
The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

Father, thank you for the wisdom today to help those who will hear “in quiet,” and thank you that our words of life will drown out “the cry” of fools around us. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

This is a lovely and pertinent sharing. However, it only rings true to those who carry these truths in their heart already. Posting this on social media would cheer and encourage the believers, but disgust, or be ignored by, the gainsayers. God asks us to live love, do unto others as we would have done unto us. The hate and division is exemplified by acts of violence. The godly response is acts of comfort and kindness and generosity, as the photo so deftly shows. Thanks for putting this together. Our world needs action, beyond words.

I beg to differ. These truths opened my eyes and illuminated my soul the very first time I read them in the Bible. Before I knew how to carry these truths they gave me something to grab a hold of. Carrying these truths then became a daily work and refocusing of the mind.

Satan is the master of deception and distraction—all this chaos that causes people to be fearful and divided. And yet God has always been the “still small voice”, the peaceful entreaty, calling people aside to His way. Why wouldn’t everyone want that? Sadly, many don’t. May we use our voices to elevate God’s love and peace. Those wanting a way out of the world’s madness will hear God’s still, small voice. Thanks for the timely article Gene!

Amen to that!!!
There are so many layers of evil intentions in what is going on right now. I pray that the darkness be lifted from their eyes so they (those participating in violence as hate) can see the light and with a peaceful heart and with pure and godly intentions make the right choice today. Right now.

I think racism is stupid. Mostly people with different skin color built this country. Like George Washington Carver invented so many uses for the peanut. The men that built Hoover Dam had families the loved and some of them died. Not to mention the wars people of color fought in to help secure our freedom ( both brown and black).

When I was in the Army we were taught in Basic Training there was one color…. At.y Green. Today it is .my opinion the only color is red white and blue.

In Adam was the potential for all different shades and colors of skin. Just look at the ground, it’s black, brown, red (clay), white (chalk), and every shade in between. But like you said, the blood is all the same. Thanks for this article and all that you do for God and everyone else. Love you.
