The Throne Behind the Power

I’m currently more than half-way in reading Winston Churchill’s A History of the English Speaking Peoples. Throughout European and American history there have been cabals, national movements, secret juntas of the wealthy and powerful, lies and propaganda…and always a steady fabric of Christian believers who prayed and fought the real spiritual fight of believing.

Jesus Christ came to show his Father’s heart, and to expose Satan’s darkness.

John 3:17,19,20:
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Light dispels darkness. My prayer at this time in America’s history is that the evil and darkness of Satan and his evil-spirit realm will be exposed in the actions of those they manipulate and control. The “god of this world” (II Corinthians 4:4) controls a third of the original angels who fell with him. They in turn, seek to control the minds of people who are led astray by thoughts and creeds contrary to the truth of God’s mercy and salvation through Jesus Christ. And those deranged politicos are heart-bent on controlling America and her people.

Where is the real crux of this incessant war for power that replays itself upon the canvas of human affairs? It is not just the “powers behind the throne,” those who secretly fund and bribe and pull the strings of elected officials. In spiritual reality, it is the “throne behind the powers,” Satan who has exalted himself to grip the weakened minds of those clenched within his merciless jaws of deceit.

Ephesians 6:12:
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers [thrones] of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Our daily contest is not against the slack-jawed and media-advanced liars who spew their vitriol upon the hapless hearts of American citizens. These often super-sincere speech makers are under the influence of Satan and his hellish hoards. These spiritual principalities and powers are the true “thrones” behind the powers that are seen nightly on most of America’s news outlets.

So what do we do to combat such foes? Our weapons are not carnal and fleshly. We must engage spiritual foes with spiritual weapons.

II Corinthians 10:4,5:
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations [personal reasonings], and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

The battle first starts with us, between our ears. We guard our thoughts to keep God’s true Word in mind and then “prove all things” that come our way. Another huge tool in our arsenal is prayer. It concludes the list of what our heavenly Father expects us to use today. It was bought with the life and suffering of our brother and savior, Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:10-18:
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

As we guard our own thoughts and pray, our Father will open doors for us to speak and counter the media lies around us. Their methods are deceitful, but “greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (I John 4:4).

Ephesians 4:14,15:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.

We speak God’s truth concerning His Son, and we do it out of love and thankfulness in our hearts. Where can you speak today? God will work in you, by way of the gift of holy spirit that He has given you, to know where and to whom—and what—you should speak. Jesus Christ is now lord of all. We just need to let others know about it.
