Ephesians—In the Lord

GU Baby Shower

Two days ago I talked to my Mom on Mother’s Day, and it was a real treat. She is 92, living at home on her own, and loving God and praying for our family. And I got to spend Mother’s Day with Sherry. I still remember when our son, Elijah, was on the way and all of the love that people showered on Sherry as a Mom-to-be. I’m SO thankful to be a part of my family. And even more, I am thankful to be a part of God’s family, with Christ as my big brother. We have SO much to be thankful for!

Here is an overview of what we have from God our Father through our Lord Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 8:6) as recorded in the Bible book of Ephesians. The first stanza is an overview of Ephesians, and then each stanza after that corresponds to what is recorded in a chapter of the epistle. You can read Ephesians, chapter by chapter, and see how the poem reviews such wonderful truths about us.

Enjoy seeing what we have in Christ!

The body of Christ lives the Mystery,
Ephesians declares, it’s God’s Word.
Unified, making spiritual history,
Here’s what we have—in the Lord:

Blessed with every spiritual blessing,
God’s riches His Word does record.
And His power to us we’re confessing,
All things under our feet—in the Lord.

We’ve been saved, made alive, raised, and seated
With Christ—all by God’s grace outpoured,
His workmanship unto good works completed,
A temple fitly framed—in the Lord.

The Mystery was God’s great intention,
An Administration of Grace to you-ward,
With all saints we have full comprehension,
Strengthened with might—in the Lord.

Walking balanced in God’s great vocation,
Spiritually unified in one accord,
Every part gives to edification,
Tenderhearted and kind—in the Lord.

Imitators of God, walking in love,
In His light, circumspectly—assured
That our lives bless our Father up above,
We submit with respect—in the Lord.

Strong in the power of His might,
Full resources ours to be explored,
Standing fast, overcoming in the fight,
We watch in prayer, boldly speak—in the Lord!

That was a beautiful and wonderful overview of our inheritance and the benefits of being members of the body of Christ.. It’s a privilege I consider so much greater than our present life and it’s eternal. Hard to beat that.
