Background
Psalm 112 is in the Deuteronomy Book of the Psalms (Psalms 107-150). These 44 Psalms, like the Book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament, show God’s Word as the source of salvation, deliverance, and healing. This would be fully carried out in the life of the coming Messiah, the living Word, Jesus Christ. Psalm 112 declares the Messiah’s great love for God and His Word.
Like Psalm 111, this is an acrostic Psalm with the first eight verses beginning with two subsequent letters of the alphabet, and the final two verses beginning with three subsequent letters of the alphabet. All 22 letters of the Hebrew are used in proper order.
Structure

(Verse 9) His horn exalted, gives of his riches, his righteousness endures forever
(Verse 10) The wicked man whose desire will perish
Key Scriptures
Verse 6—“Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.” Jesus Christ is the righteous one, and God will keep His Son’s accomplishments “in everlasting remembrance.” I John 2:1: “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” We have forgiveness and righteousness through him (Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14; I Corinthians 1:30).
Verse 9—“He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever.” This is quoted in the New Testament in the context of God blessing a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:8,9: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.” God’s grace in Christ goes far beyond anything available to the Psalmist in his time. Today, we live in a truly blessed age of God’s grace because of what His Son has done for us.
