Thanksgiving

God, our heavenly Father, has given us so many wonderful things. One thing we can always give back to Him is thankfulness for what He’s done. That is “thanks giving” at its finest. Here are a few places the word “thanksgiving” appears in the King James Version of the Bible.

Tell It Again!

Psalms 26:7:
That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

What a joy to tell others about how good our heavenly Father is to us!

Sing Praises!

Psalms 69:30:
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

It’s nice to have a little tune in your heart. You can “sing with the spirit” and also “sing with the understanding” (I Corinthians 14:15).

Enjoy Your Access!

Psalms 100:4:
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Today we have “boldness and access with confidence” to the Father by the faith of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:12).

Make Your Requests Known to God!

Philippians 4:6:
Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Let’s stay thankful for God’s blessings now and for those still to come.

Abound with Thanks!

Colossians 2:7:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

With Christ as our foundation, we get built up and established in the Word. That is something to be thankful for!

Watch with Thanks!

Colossians 4:2:
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.

As believers pray to see God’s promises come to pass, they stay thankful for His goodness to them.
