The Hawk and Covid-19

red hawk

I went for a run yesterday to the top of our hill. Which is like a small mountain. It was a sunny day with ocean views and beautiful flowering plants and even some nice people to meet. I loved speaking to someone I met along the way, who loved hearing me quote Romans 10:9 in Spanish—my versiculo favorito.

When I got to the top I walked around Marymount California University but no one was there. Except one solitary student walking into a building. California is on “lock down” because of fear of the corona virus. I was thankful that public roads in Palos Verdes are still open, so I could run down P.V. Drive East.

It has great ocean vistas with white foam on crashing rocks in the distance. And the giant merchant ships are lined up outside of Los Angeles harbor to the south. A few minutes later, I saw the hawk.

hawk crowHe was a mature bird with a giant wingspan. Watching him soar so gracefully against the bright blue sky brought the word “freedom” to mind. Then I heard a loud “caw” and a crow swooped in, trying to harass the hawk. Time after time, it squawked and dove at the hawk. But do you know what? The hawk just kept soaring along.

That reminded me of God’s goodness to bear us up on His wings. And that despite the fears and attacks around us, we can continue to soar with God’s love and grace.

II Timothy 3:12,13:
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer [endure] persecution.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Yes, we may endure challenges in this life. But despite the “crows” who try to deceive and harm us, our heavenly Father has given us the eternal solutions through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:18,21:
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Because the creature [creation] itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Just then, a cyclist came toward me and he mentioned the hawk overhead. I shared with him what I had learned, and he thanked me for the insight about God’s goodness as we live in this evil world.

We have true liberty in Christ. Let’s soar with God’s grace—now and eternally.

Our perfect prayer is allowing God to shed a light on the events of the day. In the end times we will all know as we are known, but even now, deceit and manipulations can be exposed. Continue to pray in the spirit folks. Our God is on the move! Stay the course. We will see our victory sooner than later.

Wonderful! Love how it ties in so well with recent events. I hit the share button and sent it to a friend. : )

That’s beautiful. I love how God uses things around us to remind us of His Word or to teach us. He sure is a fantastic Dad!

That is excellent insight. It is a great practice to exercise our minds by relating things we see to specific verses. Such an exercise can help us perceive more of what God has done and continues to do in our lives. Thanks.
